Tokyo Kingyo Wonderland 2019

Around 1 million people visit the Sumida Aquarium in Tokyo every year to marvel at hundreds of aquatic creatures, but starting from July 12, you'll have a whole new appreciation for kingyo (goldfish) thanks to Tokyo Kingyo Wonderland 2019.

Visitors will feel as if they've been transported to 1950s Japan as chōchin (paper lanterns) shaped like goldfish and old-fashioned signboards are on display. Meanwhile, the floor will be installed with digital artwork that ripples as visitors go through the exhibition, creating the illusion of walking on water. (Yuki Yamauchi)
