Nao Kubota’s drama about a Fukushima family’s struggles in the aftermath of the 3/11 disaster stars Kenichi Matsuyama as a son who returns to farm the family land that is poisoned by radiation. Despite its elegiac, not-of-this-world tone, the films tells some unpopular truths about depression and degeneration among the survivors. All in all, it’s a worthy effort that offers a wan form of hope. Edko Films’ Hong Version DVD comes with Chinese and English subtitles.
