Director: Takashi Miike
Language: Japanese (subtitled in English)

Released in 2012 — when mass shootings by deranged killers were making headlines around the world — Takashi Miike’s film about a charismatic but violently psychotic teacher (Hideaki Ito) who finally takes a shotgun to his class of middle schoolers certainly caught the controversy wave. The film delights in bloody excess, with Miike’s usual black-comic wink, but bores with the sameness of its jolts. Third Window Films’ release includes English subtitles.

In line with COVID-19 guidelines, the government is strongly requesting that residents and visitors exercise caution if they choose to visit bars, restaurants, music venues and other public spaces.
