Shohei Ohtani shrugged off a shaky start to pitch six strong innings, and Teoscar Hernandez hit a game-changing three-run home run as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-3 in Game 1 of the NL Division Series on Saturday.

Ohtani made history in his long-awaited playoff pitching debut, becoming the first player to start at least one game as a pitcher and one as a nonpitcher in a single postseason.

"The reason why I'm a two-way player is because that's who I am, and it's what I can do," Ohtani said. "And also at the same time, it's what the team wants. So that's the reason why I've been doing this."
