Athletes have faced their rivals in online games, with some competitions streaming on video-sharing platforms to raise money in support of medical organizations engaged in the fight against COVID-19 or to help fellow athletes who have taken a financial hit during the shutdown of sports.

Esports have seen increased interest from sports fans who have been both forced into isolation and starved of their favorite spectating pastimes.
