Jubilo Iwata said Tuesday it has canceled the contract of Brazilian defender Guilherme after the J. League slapped him with a six-match suspension for violent conduct during the club's 3-1 win over Yokohama F. Marinos earlier in the month.

The 30-year-old flew into a rage after being sent off for his second yellow card in the 80th minute of the May 2 clash, kicking Marinos midfielder Takuya Kida in the thigh before being escorted from the ground by teammates.

He then charged at a member of the Marinos coaching staff on the sideline, striking him with his hand and sparking a shoving match between both teams' players and staff.

"This has seriously impacted not just the soccer world, but the entire world of sports and we apologize from the bottom of our hearts," Jubilo said in a statement.

Guilherme joined Jubilo in January from Brazilian club Paysandu.
