World Series-winning reliever Koji Uehara said Saturday he expects to hang up his cleats after one more season in the majors.

"I want to play this year, for one more year," the free-agent right-hander said at a baseball clinic in Fukushima. "If I get a contract, I'm more than 90 percent certain that this will be the end."

Uehara, who will turn 43 in April, appeared in 49 games last season for the Chicago Cubs, striking out 50 batters in 43 innings and posting a 3.98 ERA. His 12 walks, however, were the most he has allowed in the majors since 2009, when he debuted with the Baltimore Orioles as a starter.
