German second-division side Hannover announced Sunday it had reached an agreement to send Japan midfielder Hotaru Yamaguchi back to his old J. League club, second-division outfit Cerezo Osaka.

In a statement released by Hannover, Yamaguchi said: "It was good to come to know a different mentality (in Germany), but I've decided to return as I want to live with my family and in familiar surroundings again."

The 25-year-old Yamaguchi, who played at the 2014 World Cup, signed with Hannover on a full transfer in January this year. But he struggled for minutes on the pitch and suffered a season-ending injury to his face in March while playing for Japan.
