The Orix Buffaloes have reached an agreement with former Chunichi Dragon Matt Clark, a source familiar with the negotiations told Kyodo News on Thursday.

The 29-year-old Clark, a left-handed-hitting first baseman, batted .238 with 25 home runs for the Central League's Dragons in 2013, his only season in Nippon Professional Baseball.

A career .294 hitter in Triple-A, Clark reached the majors in 2014, playing 16 games with the Milwaukee Brewers. He had been playing this season in Mexico.

The Buffaloes entered Thursday in last place in the Pacific League, having scored an NPB-worst 113 runs in 35 games.
