Ayaka Takahashi and Misaki Matsutomo defeated Naoko Fukuman and Kurumi Yonao 21-13, 21-15 in an all-Japan women's badminton doubles final at the Asian Championships on Sunday.

Fukuman and Yonao, ranked ninth in the world, could have joined their top-ranked compatriots at this summer's Rio de Janeiro Olympics with a win but are now set to miss out after Takahashi and Matsutomo eased to victory in 53 minutes.

Fukuman and Yonao on Saturday overcame second-ranked Indonesian pair Nitya Krishinda Maheswari and Greysia Polii 13-21, 21-19, 24-22 in a grueling semifinal lasting 2 hours, 41 minutes, which according to the World Badminton Federation was the longest match ever under the current regulations.
