FC Tokyo has signed Brazilian striker Muriqui on loan from Qatari club Al Sadd, the J. League first-division club announced Friday.

The 29-year-old played for Guangzhou Evergrande in China from 2010 to 2014, and was the top scorer and MVP of the 2013 Asian Champions League.

“I’ve wanted to play in Japan at some time in my career ever since I played against Japanese clubs in the ACL,” Muriqui told FC Tokyo’s official website.

Muriqui’s contract runs until Dec. 14.
