Urawa Reds are to sign Slovenia international defender Branko Ilic from Kazakhstan club Astana, the J. League first-division club said on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old Ilic has played in 64 internationals, scoring once. Astana became the first Kazakh team to appear in the UEFA Champions League this season and Ilic started in all six of the team's group-stage games.

"I am delighted to be joining a big club in Japan in Urawa Reds. I'll give it my best shot to help the team win every game and share the happiness (of winning) with the supporters," Ilic said in a club statement.
