The Yomiuri Giants said Wednesday that they have re-signed Scott Mathieson for 2016, which will be the right-handed reliever’s fifth season with the Central League team.
This year, Mathieson was 3-8 with two saves and a 2.62 ERA over 58⅓ innings in 63 games.
Mathieson joined the Giants from the Philadelphia Phillies for the 2012 season, and over four years he has a 13-16 record with 42 saves and a 2.30 ERA. He was named the league’s best middle reliever in 2013.
