OSAKA – Orix Buffaloes manager Hiroshi Moriwaki, who is currently taking a “leave of absence” due to the team’s poor results, will be appointed to the position of senior adviser, the Pacific League club announced Thursday.
Moriwaki, who took over Orix as interim manager in 2012, walked away on June 2 with the club in last place. He will officially step down as manager on Monday, and assume his new front office duties the day after. Junichi Fukura will remain the team’s interim manager until the end of the season.
“I want to diligently contribute to the development of the team and the organization,” Moriwaki said in a statement released by the Osaka-based team.
