Misako Doi and Shuko Aoyama each won their first-round matches on Tuesday to advance to the second round of the Japan Women’s Open.

Doi came from a set down to defeat Romanian qualifier Ana Bogdan 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 6-2. Aoyama, who advanced through qualifying to reach the main draw, opened with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Renata Voracova of the Czech Republic.
