Japan was denied two top medal podium spots against host South Korea in Greco-Roman on the final day of the wrestling competition at the 17th Asian Games on Wednesday.

Both Ryutaro Matsumoto and countryman Takehiro Kanakubo had to settle for silver medals in front of a jubilant partisan crowd at Dowon Gymnasium, losing their finals to Ryu Han Su at 66 kg and London Olympic gold medalist Kim Hyeon-woo at 75 kg, respectively.

Ryu, the 2013 world champion at 66 kg, shut down Matsumoto's attack early and scored technical points after controlling his opponent from the clinch position. Try as he might, Matsumoto was unable to score against his opponent.
