KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI – Kansas City Royals leadoff man Norichika Aoki has been placed on the 15-day disabled List, the team announced Saturday.
Aoki hurt his left leg on Tuesday in a game against the Detroit Tigers and has appeared in just two games since. He is batting a disappointing .263 this season, his first in the American League since he was acquired in an offseason trade from the Milwaukee Brewers.
On Saturday, the Royals lost their third straight game and have dropped into second place in the AL Central following a 10-game win streak that had propelled them briefly into the divisional lead.
