SENDAI – Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles first baseman Kevin Youkilis, who has been deactivated with an injury, was diagnosed with inflammation in muscle tendons in the sole of his left foot, the team announced Tuesday.
Youkilis was examined at a hospital in Sendai on Monday. It is unclear how long the former Boston Red Sox star will be sidelined, but the Pacific League club said it will continue to evaluate the injury to determine a timeframe for his recovery.
