Tomoki Kameda will make the second defense of his WBO bantamweight crown against top-ranked Thai boxer Pungluang Sorsingyu, the Kameda Gym announced Wednesday.
The mandatory bout will be in April or May and held in either Japan or the United States.
"I just have to get up into the ring in top condition," Kameda, the youngest of the three Kameda boxing brothers, told a press conference. "I only fight against hard opponents."
Kameda, 22, successfully defended his title for the first time with a unanimous decision over Immanuel Naidjala of Namibia in December.
He has sparred with the 25-year-old Pungluang in the past and so has some idea of what to expect from the former world champion.
"His punches pack power and he's a quite an aggressive type," Kameda said of his opponent.
Kameda is scheduled to hold a training camp in the United States next month.
