Teenager Sara Takanashi placed second in the women's competition at the FIS Ski Jumping Summer Grand Prix on Friday.

The 16-year-old Takanashi, last year's overall World Cup champion, posted the biggest jumps of the day (104 and 103.5 meters), but she failed to muster enough style points on landing and finished second behind Alexandra Pretorius of Canada with 260.8 points.

Pretorius scored 265.5 points and Katja Pozun of Slovenia took third place with 250.1

"My timing with my first jump was a bit too early and I couldn't get inside the Telemark," said Sochi Olympic gold medal hopeful Takanashi.

"I think I did a little better on my second jump but didn't prepare well enough."

Elsewhere for Japan, Yuki Ito was sixth, Yurina Yamada was 10th and Seiko Koasa was 24th. Yoshiko Kasai failed to make it to the second round.
