Forward Shinobu Ono, a member of the national team that won the Women's World Cup and London Olympic silver medal, has left French club Lyon.
Coach Patrice Lair said Wednesday that Ono had not settled with the team since arriving in January and that her contract has been terminated at her request.
"It appears as though she could not adapt to the lifestyle here," said Lair, who also hinted that the club would not be offering a new deal to another of the club's Japanese strikers, Ami Otaki.
"I think it will be difficult for her (Otaki) to play regularly," said Lair.
