Daiya Seto placed second in the men's 200-meter individual medley Friday to capture his second medal at the short-course FINA Swimming World Championships.

The 18-year-old Seto was a distant second to American Ryan Lochte, who broke his own world record with a lung-busting time of 1 minute, 49.63 seconds over the eight laps.

Seto was more than three seconds behind to grab the silver in 1:52.80 while Hungarian rival Laszlo Cseh won the bronze in 1:52.89.

"Wow! He (Lochte) was off the charts," said Seto, who won the men's 400 IM on Thursday. "This is what the world's top swimmer can do. I want to put this world record in view and raise my own level."
