Japan international midfielder Takashi Inui was on target as Eintracht Frankfurt thrashed Werder Bremen 4-1 at home to climb up to fourth in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Nils Petersen struck for Bremen to cancel out Alexander Meier's 47th-minute opener, but two goals in a minute from Pirmin Schwegler and Stefan Aigner put Frankfurt in control. Inui rounded Sebastian Mielitz and swept into an empty net to cap the scoring in the dying seconds with his fourth goal of the season.

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, Gotoku Sakai was sent off and both sides ended with 10 men as Stuttgart won 3-1 at home to Atsuto Uchida's Schalke, courtesy of a hat-trick from Vedad Ibisevic.

Sakai was given a straight red for a dangerous tackle on Lewis Holtby in the 67th minute. Schalke's Jermaine Jones soon followed him down the tunnel for a tackle from behind on Ibrahima Traore.

Uchida was substituted after 70 minutes while Stuttgart striker Shinji Okazaki missed out with a sore knee.

Japan captain Makoto Hasebe put in a full shift in Wolfsburg's 3-2 win at Dortmund. Hiroshi Kiyotake missed his first game of the season for Nuremberg due to health issues. Nuremberg beat Dusseldorf 2-0.
