Shinya Miyamoto, the Tokyo Yakult Swallows' 42-year-old third baseman, tied the Central League record by winning his 10th Golden Glove Award on Thursday.

Miyamoto, who won the award six times at shortstop, rewrote his own mark as the oldest recipient in Japanese baseball, winning the honor for the fourth straight year.

"I'm grateful to all those who voted for me," said Miyamoto, who was joined in the Central League's all-defensive team by teammates Kazuhiro Hatakeyama at first base and second baseman Hiroyasu Tanaka.

"It's nice to be able to contribute to the team even at my age through good defense."

The Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters' first baseman Atsunori Inaba was the oldest Pacific League winner at 40 years and 3 months. Inaba previously won the award four times as an outfielder.

"I worked hard for this honor from the first day of training camp, especially on fundamentals, and it's paid off," Inaba said.

Three other Fighters were also selected: third baseman Eiichi Koyano and outfielders Yang Dai-kang and Yoshio Itoi. The Seibu Lions had two picked, catcher Ginjiro Sumitani and shortstop Hiroyuki Nakajima.

Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles right-hander Masahiro Tanaka won for the second straight year, as did Fukuoka Softbank Hawks second baseman Yuichi Honda. Yoshifumi Okada of the Chiba Lotte Marines nabbed the last outfield spot in the PL.

Rounding out the CL were Hiroshima Carp right-hander Kenta Maeda, and the Chunichi Dragons trio of catcher Motonobu Tanishige, shortstop Hirokazu Ibata and outfielder Yohei Oshima.

Oshima was joined in the outfield by Hisayoshi Chono, the only pick from the Japan Series champion Yomiuri Giants, and the Yokohama BayStars' Sho Aranami.
