LONDON – Kenichi Yumoto was denied a second straight Olympic bronze when American Scott Coleman rallied in a last-ditch effort to win the men’s wrestling 60-kg freestyle at the London Olympics on Saturday.
Yumoto was aiming to bring home the second bronze in his family after his younger twin brother Shinichi came third in the 55-kg freestyle a day earlier, but the Beijing Olympic bronze medalist ran out of steam against Coleman to finish in fifth.
“Shinichi wasn’t able to win the gold medal, and I was hoping to clear away the disappointment,” said Yumoto. “I thought I would get a bronze medal, and I fought it out till the end. Both Shinichi and I wrestled the best we could, so that’s enough.”
