Ren Hayakawa and Miki Kanie, members of Japan's bronze medal-winning team on Sunday, saw their campaign at the London Olympics end after failing to advance to the quarterfinals of the women's individual archery competition on Thursday.
In the third round, Hayakawa suffered a 6-0 loss at the hands of South Korea's Ki Bo Bae, while Kanie, who took an early lead, eventually fell 7-3 to Mexico's Aida Roman at Lord's Cricket Ground.
"It was good that I was able to put all my strength in shooting. I was behind but I wasn't bothered because there's no point in thinking about it too much," said South Korean-born Hayakawa.
"(Ki) is a strong player who is virtually unrivaled, so I wasn't pressured mentally," she said of the world No. 2 opponent.
Kanie said, "I'm not so frustrated (with the result). It was good that I was able to shoot in my style of play."
"It was fun. I could test my capabilities and bring out my potential at the same time," she added.
The Japanese trio of Kanie, Hayakawa and Kaori Kawanaka gave Japan its first Olympic team medal in archery after edging Russia in the bronze medal match on Sunday.
Kawanaka was eliminated in the first round of the individual competition.
