Ryo Ishikawa missed the cut by two strokes in his first start of 2012 at the Sony Open in Hawaii on Friday.

Ishikawa shot an even-par 70 to finish at 1-over 141 and Asian amateur champion Hideki Matsuyama also failed to advance, while three of their compatriots — Komei Oda, Ryuji Imada and Tadahiro Takayama — reached the weekend rounds.

The 20-year-old ended up having four birdies, including at the 15th and 18th holes, and as many bogeys.

Matsuyama, the 2011 Masters low amateur, missed the cut by four strokes after a second-round 72.
