NISHINOMIYA, Hyogo Pref. (Kyodo) Hirotsugu Sato homered and drove in three runs, Tsuyoshi Sugano also went deep and Tokaidai Sagami beat Kyushu Kokusaidai Fuzoku 6-1 in the final of the National High School Invitational tournament Sunday.

In the tournament that was in danger of being canceled like many sporting events in Japan after the March 11 massive earthquake, the Kanagawa Prefecture powerhouse won its first invitational title since 2000 and second overall.

Tokaidai Sagami pounded out 14 hits against the Fukuoka school and set a tournament record with 74 hits at Koshien Stadium.

"We kept playing our aggressive style of baseball," Tokaidai Sagami manager Keiji Momma said. "I'm thankful that the tournament was held as scheduled and we got to play at Koshien. Our players played really hard."
