All horse races scheduled for Nakayama and Fukushima Racecourses in April has been canceled due to the aftermath of the March 11 devastating earthquake and tsunami, the Japan Racing Association said Tuesday.

The Satsuki-sho, a Grade 1 race, has been moved from Nakayama to Tokyo Racecourse and will be held on April 24, a week later than initially scheduled, the JRA said.

Nakayama Racecourse in the tsunami-hit Chiba Prefecture has extended the cancellation period amid an electricity shortage and fears of a nuclear meltdown, having called off all races in March.

At Fukushima Racecourse, its stands were damaged by the quake.
