Waseda University right-hander Yuki Saito, who was named by the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters in the first round of the amateur draft, signed with the Pacific League club on Monday.

Saito, 22, put pen to paper with a signing bonus of ¥100 million, plus performance-related incentives worth ¥50 million. He will make ¥15 million in his first year.

The Fighters drew the winning lottery ticket among four teams for Saito, who will wear jersey No. 18. He was the team's final signing of six players named in the draft.

"The team has given me the highest evaluation and I couldn't be happier," said Saito, adding that he was shocked by the number of zeros. "I really want to get started doing my best to show that I can perform for this team and really value the relationship with Nippon Ham."
