GUADALAJARA, Mexico (Kyodo) Ai Miyazato’s hopes of coming from behind to win the LPGA money title ended Sunday after the Japanese star finished in sixth place at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational.
Needing victory here to have any chance of topping the earnings list on women’s golf’s toughest circuit, Miyazato started the day one stroke off the pace tied for second but a final round 70 saw her finish at 13-under 275, six shots behind South Korean winner Kim In Jung.
Kim had an 8-under 64 to claim a three-stroke victory over Suzann Pettersen for her third LPGA Tour title.
“The only mistakes I made were over those three holes (from the fourth) but because of what I have achieved over the course of the season I was able to overcome those setbacks,” Miyazato said.
