Challenger Takahisa Masuda will take on WBC flyweight Thai interim champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam, Masuda's Misako boxing gym said Monday.

The match has been slated to take place on Aug. 28 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It will be the 30-year-old Masuda's first crack at a world title.

Pongsaklek won a decision for the WBC interim title in April and had initially been in line for a mandatory unification title bout against WBC champion Daisuke Naito. He was later permitted to hold a match in defense of the interim title.
