KOBE (Kyodo) Relegation-threatened Vissel Kobe announced the appointment of Toshiya Miura as their new manager Wednesday.

Miura, 46, who has managed Omiya Ardija for five years and Sapporo Consadole for two seasons, will replace Masahiro Wada.

Brazilian Caio Junior stepped down as Kobe manager in late June to manage Qatar League champions Al Gharafa.

Wada, previously Kobe general manager, took over, but the team remained in the doldrums, with a record of one win, two draws and two losses in his five matches in charge. The 44-year-old will serve as head coach.
