Bare struck twice as Gamba Osaka closed in on J. League leaders Urawa Reds with a comfortable 4-2 win at home to lowly Consadole Sapporo on Sunday.

Urawa suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat to Kashiwa Reysol at National Stadium on Saturday and Gamba took full advantage to move within a point of its bitter rival, courtesy of Bare's double and second-half goals from Lucas and Satoshi Yamaguchi.

Gamba climbed into fourth spot on 25 points after 14 games while FC Tokyo is fifth after the Gasmen, who had Yasuyuki Konno sent off just eight minutes into the game, drew 1-1 at home to bottom club JEF United Chiba.

Bare took just six minutes to put Gamba in front, the burly Brazilian sliding the ball under Sapporo goalkeeper Takahiro Takagi from a tight angle, but Sapporo hit back midway through the first half when Hiroyuki Nishijima scrambled home Anderson's corner.

Bare hooked in his ninth goal of the campaign after Hideo Hashimoto's shot had been charged down and Lucas swept home after good work from Yasuhito Endo to make it 3-1 on 68 minutes.

Shingo Shibata gave Sapporo hope by pouncing on a gaffe by Gamba keeper Yosuke Fujigaya to reduce the arrears but Yamaguchi powered home Endo's free kick to seal victory five minutes from time.

At Ajinomoto Stadium, Tokyo led through Hideki Sahara's 40th-minute header but Reinaldo gave Chiba a share of the spoils to preserve its unbeaten record under Scottish manager Alex Miller.

In the day's other fixture Masato Morishige headed the only goal of the game as Oita Trinita edged Vissel Kobe 1-0 at Kyushu Oil Dome.
