SUITA, Osaka – Brazilian striker Bare claimed his 10th goal of the season as Gamba Osaka went four points clear at the top of the J. League after a comfortable 3-1 win over Albirex Niigata on Saturday.

Urawa Reds had pulled themselves to within two points of Gamba but the reigning champions’ five-match winning run came to an end after they were held to a surprise 1-1 draw at home to Kashiwa Reysol.
Yokohama F. Marinos grabbed the headlines as league action got back into full swing, Hiroshi Hayano’s team claiming local bragging rights in sensational fashion with an 8-1 demolition of bottom club Yokohama FC.
Hideo Oshima opened the scoring and went on to bag four goals while Koji Yamase helped himself to a hat-trick as F. Marinos ran riot at Nissan Stadium.
At Expo Stadium, Gamba took the lead in the 49th minute after a botched clearance from Niigata defender Mitsuru Nagata ended up in the net and Bare made it two 10 minutes later when he turned to smash home a Yasuhito Endo pass.
Akira Kaji put the game out of Niigata’s reach with the third 11 minutes from time although the visitors managed a late consolation from Marcio Richardes.
Gamba has 44 points from 19 games while Urawa remained second and Niigata third, 12 points adrift of the leaders. Marcus Tulio Tanaka opened the scoring in Saitama but Reds had to settle for a share of the spoils after Masahiro Koga’s header gave visiting Kashiwa a point.
Elsewhere, Juninho scored a hat-trick as Kawasaki Frontale came from behind to beat JEF United Chiba 3-1 at Fukuda Denshi Arena.
Asian Cup villain Naotake Hanyu created and finished Chiba’s opener on 34 minutes but Juninho stole the show with his second-half treble to put Kawasaki in fifth spot and leave Chiba hovering above the drop zone.
“It was our first game after the break and I am really pleased with the way we found our rhythm,” said Kawasaki manager Takashi Sekizuka.
Leandro hit a double as Vissel Kobe thrashed Jubilo Iwata 4-0, Daisuke Takahashi scored the winner as Oita Trinita beat FC Tokyo 2-1 away while Omiya Ardija earned their first point under new manager Satoru Sakuma after a 2-2 draw at Shimizu S-Pulse.
Sunday’s matches see Ventforet Kofu welcome the visit of Kashima Antlers while Nagoya Grampus Eight travel to Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
