Kenji Yano hit a pinch-hit grand slam in the seventh inning as the Yomiuri Giants rallied to beat the Softbank Hawks 7-3 on Thursday.

Yano’s shot to deep left off Takayuki Shinohara (0-1) came with one out and the bases loaded, giving Yomiuri a 4-3 lead at Tokyo Dome.

Shinnosuke Abe also connected off the left-handed reliever in the eighth for a three-run shot.

Softbank was on course to win the game, having built a 3-0 lead on a two-run homer by Hitoshi Tamura in the third and a solo drive from Hidenori Tanoue in the fourth. Nagisa Arakaki had carried a shutout into the seventh.

At Toyohashi Stadium in Aichi Pref., Motonobu Tanishige hit a tiebreaking two-run homer in the fourth inning among his four hits as Chunichi defeated Rakuten to snap a three-game losing streak.

Tyrone Woods and Norihiro Nakamura each hit a solo home run in the second to give Chunichi a 2-0 lead before RBI singles from Yosuke Takasu and Koichi Isobe tied the score for Rakuten in the third.

At Koshien Stadium, Takashi Toritani turned the game around with a three-run homer in the fourth inning as Hanshin beat Seibu for its second come-from-behind victory in as many nights.

In Shimanami, lefty Yoshihisa Naruse pitched seven shutout innings and Tomoya Satozaki drove in a run with a clutch single as Lotte blanked Hiroshima to win its fifth straight.

At Jingu Stadium, Seth Greisinger allowed one run and two hits over five efficient innings and Aaron Guiel chipped in with a two-run homer as Yakult beat Orix in a game called after five innings.
