Osim had named an interim 18-man party on Monday but added Maki while giving first-time call ups to his club teammate Koki Mizuno, Oita Trinita striker Shota Matsuhashi and Gamba Osaka midfielder Akihiro Ienaga.

Sanfrecce Hiroshima striker Hisato Sato, Albirex Niigata's Kisho Yano and Nagoya Grampus Eight's Japan Under-22 star Keisuke Honda were also picked.

There was no place in the squad for Gamba Osaka's Ryuji Bando or Kawasaki Frontale's Kazuki Ganaha.

The Bosnian coach had said Monday he would add to the squad after Wednesday's Nabisco Cup and Asian Champions League games involving Japanese teams.

World Cup forward Maki has not scored for Chiba since last September.
