FRANKFURT – Striker Naohiro Takahara has received a call-up for the upcoming friendly against Peru, German first-division club Eintracht Frankfurt announced on their Web site on Wednesday.
Takahara received his first call-up to the Japan squad since taking part in the World Cup in Germany last June.
This season, Takahara has scored 10 times to match retired midfielder Hidetoshi Nakata for the most goals scored in a season by a Japanese player in the European top flight. Japan coach Ivica Osim will announce the rest of the squad for the March 24 friendly at Yokohama’s Nissan Stadium next Monday.
