Seibu Lions outfielder Kazuhiro Wada re-signed with the Pacific League club on Monday for an estimated annual salary of 275 million yen, up 5 million yen from 2006, plus performance escalators.

Wada, who batted .298 with 19 homers and a career-high 95 RBIs last year, got the pay rise in the third round of his contract talks with Seibu this offseason.

Seibu encouraged Wada to act as team leader, with position players facing an increased burden because of Daisuke Matsuzaka's departure for the Boston Red Sox, he said.
