Striker Yuki Nagasato struck the opener to put the Japanese women's national team on the way to a 2-0 win over Russia in a friendly on Saturday.

Nagasato arrived at the far post to slot home Mio Otani's cross from the left in the 41st minute at Shizuoka Stadium Ecopa, and victory was complete in the 48th thanks to an own goal by Russian midfielder Galina Komarova.

The match was serving as preparation for Japan for this summer's Asian championship, which also serves as a qualifying competition for next year's women's World Cup in China.
