Kashiwa Reysol manager Hiroshi Hayano resigned Tuesday after his side was relegated to the second division of the J. League.

Hayano, 50, offered his resignation after Kashiwa lost to Ventforet Kofu with an 8-3 aggregate score in the two-leg promotion-relegation playoff last week.

A former manager with Yokohama F. Marinos and Gamba Osaka, Hayano took office at Kashiwa in July 2004 but failed to lift the side from the near-bottom of the first-division standings.
