Japanese rhythmic gymnast Yukari Murata, who won a record-tying fifth all-around title a day earlier, won three disciplines Sunday while rival Ai Yokochi secured victory in the ribbon event at the national championships.

Murata was not at her best with some glaring mistakes in a lackluster ball and rope performance but managed to outpoint the competition in both disciplines and earned 14.575 points to win the club at Hyogo prefectural gymnasium.

She failed to win all disciplines for the second straight year.

Yokochi, who had to settle for a runnerup finish for the third year in a row in the women's all-around, gave a technically rich, dynamic performance in the ribbon to take first with 13.575 ahead of Murata (13.300) in second and Yoshie Hayashi (12.550) in third.
