The Seattle Mariners said Tuesday they have declined a club option on the contract of right-handed reliever Shigetoshi Hasegawa.

Hasegawa will leave the Mariners after posting a 15-16 record with 17 saves and a 3.46 ERA in 230 games between 2002 and 2005.

The 37-year-old was 1-3 with a 4.19 ERA in 46 games this past season. Hasegawa pitched in the All-Star game in 2003, when he posted a career-best 1.48 ERA with 16 saves.

Hasegawa has played nine seasons in the majors with the Anaheim Angels and the Mariners. He posted a 45-43 record with 33 saves and a career 3.70 ERA in 517 games.
