Fastballer Takanobu Tsujiuchi struck out 12 in his second straight complete game Tuesday as Osaka Toin beat Nagasaki Prefecture's Seiho 4-1 to advance to the quarterfinals of the national high school baseball championship Tuesday.

Backed by a three-run double from Kazuki Yonekawa and a Dai Shinohara solo homer, Tsujiuchi held Seiho scoreless until Tsuyoshi Oishi homered in the ninth inning to end his shutout bid in a third-round game at Koshien Stadium.

In the day's other third-round games, Shigekazu Kitaoka and Takuto Honda combined on a four-hit shutout and Masaaki Takahara drove home two runs as Kyoto Gaidai Nishi blanked Toko Gakuen of Kanagawa Prefecture 4-0.

Ube Shogyo from Yamaguchi Prefecture sent 12 batters to the plate and scored eight runs in the seventh inning in an 11-2 rout of Sakata Minami of Yamagata Prefecture. Kazuhide Ida had four hits with four RBIs for Ube.

Miyagi Prefecture's Tohoku took a 2-1 lead on a go-ahead single by Kyosuke Narita in the bottom of the first inning and went on to eliminate Aomori Yamada with a 4-2 victory.
