Daijiro Tanaka and Ryo Kobayashi hit two-run homers as Tokaidai Sagami of Kanagawa Prefecture beat Kagawa's Sanbonmatsu 8-3 on Sunday to advance to the second round of the national high school invitational baseball tournament.

Tanaka opened the scoring with his shot over the right-field fence in the first inning and Naoyuki Iwasaki made it 4-0 with a two-run triple in the fourth to give a commanding lead to Tokaidai Sagami, winner of last fall's Kanto tournament.

Kobayashi added three runs with his homer in the fifth and an RBI single in a two-run ninth as Tokaidai Sagami won its first game since the Kanagawa school captured the title five years ago.

In Sunday's other first-round action at Koshien Stadium, Yuki Mizuno hit a two-out RBI triple in the bottom of the 10th inning as Toho of Aichi Prefecture beat Hyogo's Ikuei 1-0 in a pitcher's duel.

Haguro of Yamagata Prefecture edged Hachiman Shogyo of Shiga 2-1 in 12 innings. Hachiman Shogyo pitcher Daiki Ueda threw a wild pitch with two outs and a runner on third in the bottom of the 12th to give first-timer Haguro a spot in the second round.
