Hiroyuki Tomita, who helped Japan win the gold medal in the Athens Olympic team event, earned the highest scores in three of six disciplines to win his third straight all-around title at the Chunichi Cup on Saturday.

Tomita collected a total of 57.300 points at Nagoya Sports Complex and headed a quintet of gold-winning teammates who swept the top five spots in the annual meet featuring competitors from six countries. Naoya Tsukahara was second with 57.050 points and Hisashi Mizutori was third with 56.925. Isao Yoneda took fourth and Daisuke Nakano fifth. Takehiro Kashima, the other member of the Japanese men's team in Athens, was competing for the first time since he fractured his chest bone in October but withdrew after four disciplines.
