Olympic table tennis player Ai Fukuhara and Seiya Kishikawa beat Chinese pair Lin Chen and Wang Xuan to advance to the quarterfinals of the mixed doubles at the world junior championships on Friday.

Fukuhara, who led Japan to a runnerup finish in the women's team competition Wednesday, and men's junior world No. 1 Kishikawa prevailed 13-11, 11-7, 11-9, while Fukuhara also enjoyed success in the women's singles and doubles at Kobe World Memorial Hall.

The 16-year-old beat Sigrid Van Ulsen of the Netherlands in straight sets in the round of 32 in the singles and partnered Nozomi Hasama to a 3-0 win over Indonesian pair Swarna Jayakumar and Kutaresan Shamini in the women's doubles.
