King Kamehameha, the winner of this spring’s NHK Mile Cup and Japan Derby, will be sidelined indefinitely after injuring his right leg, his trainer said Thursday.

Kunihide Matsuda said King Kamehameha will miss the upcoming Tenno-sho on Oct. 31 at Tokyo Racecourse and could be forced into retirement if his injury fails to heal.
