JAKARTA – Japan’s preparations for the women’s volleyball tournament of the Athens Olympics suffered yet another setback Sunday with a 3-1 loss to Cuba in a World Grand Prix match.
Japan took the first set 26-24 before the Cubans rebounded to win the next three sets 25-15, 25-13, 25-22, handing Japan its fifth defeat in six matches in the first-round series of the World Grand Prix.
Japan moves to South Korea next week for its remaining three first-round games.
