Overnight leader S.K. Ho of South Korea birdied his final hole to claim a one-shot victory after a final-round 4-under-par 68 at the rain-shortened Japan PGA Championship on Sunday.

The 30-year-old, who has led throughout the event in Kochi Prefecture which was shortened to 54 holes Sunday because of heavy rain, closed on 14-under 202 to claim his second title on the Japanese tour and a check for 22 million yen.

Keiichiro Fukabori carded six birdies against a pair of bogeys in an identical round of 68 to finish alone in second place.

Fudo triumphs

AMAGI, Fukuoka Pref. (Kyodo) Money-rankings leader Yuri Fudo shot a flawless 2-under-par 70 to overturn a two-stroke deficit and capture her second title of the season at the Vernal Ladies on Sunday.

Fudo, the top player on the Japanese LPGA tour for the past four seasons, rolled down birdies on the fourth and 14th holes at a rain-swept Fukuoka Century Golf Club to close on 2-under-par 214 for one-shot victory over overnight leader Toshimi Kimura.

Kimura, who teed off in a four-way tie for the lead with teen sensation Ai Miyazato, Kasumi Fujii and Midori Yoneyama, could only manage a 1-over 73 after three birdies and four bogeys for second.
